The student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at Southeast Missouri State University recently earned top honors at the Chapter Officers Conference held at Overland Park, Kan.
Members Matthew Mcbride, Todd Marchi, Derrick Geringer, Nathan Dierking, Kim Jones, Noel Hiltz and Tony Thomas represented the organization at the conference, where the chapter received three of five first-place awards.
Among the local chapters honors were first-place honors for Best Scrapbook, a club journal that includes pictures of past events and awards; Outstanding Chapter Presentation, as presented by member Todd Marchi regarding the high and low points for the club in the past year; and Outstanding Web Page Design, regarding the detail including in the club's Web site managed by member Matthew Mcbride.
The local organization also received the Over-All Excellence Award at the conference. The Over-All Excellence Award is an international honor bestowed on the best local chapter by the national headquarters of SME.
In addition to conference honors, the local SME chapter has been nominated for the Student Organization of the Year award at Southeast and the World Class in Leadership national award.
