The device appeared to be made from a combination of common fireworks, police said.

The device differed from a bomb that was discovered Wednesday afternoon in Cape Girardeau near the Mississippi River bridge under construction. Sikeston police do not see any link between the two explosives.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the state fire marshal's office are assisting with the investigation in Sikeston.

Sikeston police declined to give further details
