ROTHVILLE, Mo. -- Six people were killed Saturday when the driver of a 1987 Ford Mustang lost control of his vehicle and drove into the path of a van in Chariton County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The patrol identified the driver of the Mustang as 20-year-old Dustin Jay of Brookfield. He and his passenger, 16-year-old Rachel Williams of Mendon, were killed.

The patrol said Jay was driving south on Missouri 11 when he lost control and slid in front of the northbound van.

Four Brookfield residents in the van also were killed, including the driver, 55-year-old Terry Baker; his wife, Joan Baker, 54; their daughter, Amber Entzel, 27; and Entzel's husband, Kenneth Entzel, 22.

All six victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two daughters of Amber Entzel, ages 6 and 10, were in the van when it crashed. Both suffered serious injuries and were taken to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
