Six people were injured in a car accident Thursday on Cape Girardeau County Road 618 a half-mile east of Jackson.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 10:15 a.m. when Garry Proffer, 28, of Cape Girardeau stopped his 1986 Lincoln at a stop sign, accelerated too quickly and lost control. He ran off the left side of the road and hit an embankment.
Proffer was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau with minor injuries.
Also taken to the same hospital were five passengers, all from Cape Girardeau: Angel Slaner, 8, Bobbiejoe Proffer, 26, Sabrina Slaner, 6, and Crystal Harris, 11, all with moderate injuries, and Kalab Harris, 1, with minor injuries.
