"According to the driver -- he told a medic on scene -- he began feeling lightheaded," Baker said. Baker said the driver tried to pull the bus over but lost consciousness.

Eight passengers and the driver were on the bus at the time of the accident.

Metro spokeswoman Dianne Williams said the bus was heading from the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield to a Metrolink station in Brentwood. She said the driver has been with transit agency since 1994.
