CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Officials at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale say they've exceeded their $100 million goal in a six-year fundraising campaign. About $106 million has been raised. The money was announced at an evening event late Friday. SIU president Glenn Poshard said students will have a lot more opportunities. School officials have been raising money for the "Opportunity Through Excellence Campaign for Southern" since 2002. The money will pay for numerous programs and facilities. Some of the enhancements will include additional scholarships and graduate assistantships for students.
