CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University's president is scheduled to meet Friday with SIU's Carbondale chancellor, who's been placed on paid administrative leave.
President Glenn Poshard removed Fernando Trevino last week, nine months after Trevino took the helm of SIU's flagship campus.
Poshard said Trevino hasn't worked out and hasn't carried out basic initiatives required of his job.
Poshard spokesman David Gross said Friday's meeting is meant to give Trevino a chance to discuss Poshard's concerns about Trevino's performance.
Poshard then would weigh Trevino's response and determine where the matter goes next.
The school's vice chancellor and interim provost is handling the school's daily duties in Trevino's absence.
Trevino's Carbondale attorney was trying a case and wasn't immediately available for comment.
