Two players on Southeast Missouri State's 2004 football team have picked up more Division I-AA All-American honors.

Sophomore punter David Simonhoff on Thursday was named to the third team by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette, while senior tight end Ray Goodson made honorable mention.

In December, both players received second-team honors by the Sports Network.

Simonhoff led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked second nationally in punting with an average of 46 yards per attempt, which set school and OVC records. He had five punts of more than 70 yards, with a long of 82, in being named first team all-OVC.

Goodson, a Jackson High School product, led Southeast in receiving for the second straight season, with 58 catches for 593 yards. Also first-team all-OVC, Goodson ranked third in the league in receptions per game and sixth in receiving yards per game.

Goodson, also an All-American following the 2003 season, has been receiving considerable interest from the NFL, and even if he is not drafted he figures to stand a solid chance of entering a training camp as a free agent.

Six OVC players made Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette first team. Honored were running backs Charles Anthony (Tennessee State) and Oscar Bonds (Jacksonville State); offensive lineman Frank Omiyale (Tennessee Tech); and defensive backs Brandon Shelby (Tennessee Tech) and Pierre Wright (Eastern Kentucky).

The Tigers are ranked 19th nationally with a regional qualifying score of 194.499.

Southeast is ranked 36th with a regional qualifying score of 192.960. The Redhawks improved to 4-5 with Saturday's home victory against Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

"It's going to be a big challenge for us to go up against Missouri, which has a really strong team, but we're looking forward to it," Southeast coach Tom Farden said.

The Redhawks have their final home meet of the season Sunday when Illinois State, Winona State and Wisconsin-Stout visit Houck Field House for a 1 p.m. senior day event.

Seniors Alexis Traylor, Katie Bloom and Crystal Eberhardt will be honored. Traylor qualified for regionals last year while Bloom was an alternate.

"They've been great seniors for us and this is the last time fans will get to see them here," Farden said.
