SIKESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston woman is in custody after being arrested Wednesday in connection with an incident involving her children, according to police.

Michelle Corbin, 34, has been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

Police responded to Corbin's address because she had been in a verbal argument with her landlord about not paying rent, according to a probable-cause statement written by Scott County Sheriff's deputy Carl Rose.

After stating he was going to use the property for storage use, the landlord used a "heavy loader tractor" to move equipment on the property, according to the statement. Corbin then sent her three children running to stand in front of the tractor to keep the landlord from moving his equipment, according to the statement.

The landlord recorded video that, according to police, showed Corbin "instructing her small children to engage activity that would create a substantial risk to their wellbeing," according to the release.

According to the probable-cause statement, Corbin received three years of probation after being convicted of felony forgery in 2001 in New Madrid County; fines possession of marijuana in 2007 and driving without a license in Sikeston in 2008; and a fine after pleading guilty to possession of an item prohibited in New Madrid County Jail in 2013.
