Sikeston woman dies following Sunday accident

GRASSY, Mo. -- A Sikeston, Mo., woman died Wednesday, three days after falling from the rear of a vehicle Sunday in Wayne County, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported.

Rebecca M. Burns, 32, of Sikeston died at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was being treated for serious injuries she received following the accident, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. Initial reports said the accident occurred at 11:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 34, five miles west of Grassy, when Burns, who was riding on the rear of a vehicle driven by Allen W. Reeves, 41, of Sikeston, fell onto the roadway. She was taken to Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
