SIKESTON, Mo. — A Sikeston woman was arrested on domestic assault charges in connection with the stabbing of her boyfriend late Monday night.
According to officials from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, a call came to the station at 10:51 p.m. from Mechell H. Demaris of 212 Goodes Drive. Her boyfriend, Robert Beck, had been stabbed in the upper left chest area.
Beck was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that Demaris and Beck had gotten into a verbal argument earlier in the evening, reportedly over another woman.
Demaris was arrested on charges of domestic assault. As of press time this morning, she was still in custody at the DPS headquarters, awaiting warrants to be filed in the case. Following that, Demaris is scheduled to be transferred to the Scott County Jail.
