Sikeston police seek suspect tied to grocery store robbery

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Law enforcement officials are continuing their search for a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred late Tuesday.

At 5:42 p.m., the Sikeston Department of Public Safety was alerted to an incident at Food Giant located at 700 N. Main St.

A man wearing a black leather jacket and gloves and ski mask reportedly walked into the business armed with a handgun, approached the service desk and demanded money.

After employees handed over an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect is said to have left the area running on foot. No one was injured.

As of Thursday morning, the investigation continues. The man was described to be about 6 foot 3 inches tall and weigh around 175 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call DPS at 471-6200 or the CrimeStoppers line, 471-1500. All tips will be kept confidential.
