SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety will join the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division in their efforts to crack down on seat-belt violators today.
According to Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for the department, Nov. 18 is set aside as "Occupant Protection Enforcement Day" and is much like a one-day "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
"Although our department routinely enforces seat-belt usage, we will be extra vigilant this Thursday," McMillen said. "Our goal is to help keep you safe and reduce highway fatalities in our area."
