SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sikeston police apprehended two suspects in connection with a weekend robbery at the Murray Lane Mini Mart, 626 Murray Lane in Sikeston.

Officers were called to the convenience store about 7 p.m. Sunday by a panic alarm and found an employee had just been robbed at gunpoint, according to the a news release from Sgt. Jim McMillen of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

The employee told police he'd been in the process of closing out the cash register when a man came in the door and pointed a sawed off double-barreled shotgun at him.

The suspect allegedly took the cash the employee had been counting and fled with another suspect by way of the gravel lot at the front of the store.

No one was injured during the robbery.

A Sikeston officer was on patrol in the neighborhood near the minimart and noticed a suspicious vehicle parked nearby at an odd angle. When he saw two subjects jump into the car after running through the lot, he took down the license plate number and description of the car, just as he received the call for the panic alarm.

Officers located the vehicle based on his description about 20 minutes later at 107 Adams St. A search of the car revealed a sawed-off shotgun and detectives removed money inside the residence, according to the news release.

Police placed two suspects in custody pending formal charges from the Scott County prosecutor's office and continue to search for a third suspect, according to the news release.
