POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — A jury found a Sikeston, Mo., man guilty of first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the death of a Sikeston woman nearly two years ago.

Robbie Madison, 30, was convicted by a Butler County jury in the Aug. 18, 2006, death of Shekiah Robinson. The case was heard June 6 before Circuit Judge Mark Richardson.

Robinson died from gunshot wounds she received while at home at 318 Dixie St. with her husband, Marcus Robinson, and her three children.

The jury deliberated eight hours and 20 minutes before reaching the verdict.

Sentencing is scheduled after completion of the the sentencing advisory report for the court. Boyd has sought for the court to find Madison a prior and persistent felony offender based on his felony drug convictions from 1996 and 1999.
