Craig D. Marks, 23, appeared for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

On Feb. 24, 2000, Sikeston police officers attempted to arrest Marks, who ran from the officers. He was carrying a 9 mm, semi-automatic pistol, which he discarded as he exited the back of a residence. A records check revealed the gun was stolen from Harrisburg, Ill.

Prior to his possession of the gun, Marks had been convicted of a second-degree assault in 1997 in Mississippi County, Mo.
