A 36-year-old Sikeston man died Tuesday afternoon after falling 35-feet from a roof at his job near Cape Girardeau.

Randy William Riley was pronounced dead at Southeast Missouri Hospital at 1:15 p.m. after sustaining massive head trauma in the fall.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at a freight storage building used by Jerry Lipps Trucking Service. The building is at 14916 State Highway 177, about one-fourth mile from the Procter & Gamble plant.

Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Carpenter said Riley and other workers were putting a roof on the building when he lost his footing and fell.

He had worked for Jerry Lipps Trucking Service since March.
