The accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. northbound on U.S. 61, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. A 2002 Buick LeSabre driven by Joshua N. Kinder, 17, of Canalou, Mo., ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned 2 miles north of Highway 80.

Kinder, who was wearing his seat belt, was treated for moderate injuries at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The passenger in the car, Matthew D. Kinder, 21, of Sikeston was treated for serious injuries at the hospital. He was not wearing his seat belt, the highway patrol said.
