SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jamieon Q. Mosby, an 8-month-old child from Sikeston, died Wednesday night at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Now Kevin Dixon, according to a Sikeston Department of Public Safety news release. On Thursday, Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd charged Dixon with first-degree murder.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, officers responded to 306 Sunset St. in Sikeston around 2 p.m. March 24 in reference to an 8-month-old who was not breathing. Sikeston's Criminal Investigations Unit began an investigation to determine the cause of the child's trauma.
Officers learned Dixon, the mother's boyfriend, was caring for the child when the injuries occurred. Detectives conferred with physicians regarding the injuries. Apparently the child had injuries consistent with high-impact blunt force trauma. Dixon met detectives Monday for an interview. He was subsequently arrested and charged with child abuse and first-degree assault.
Dixon remains in custody at the Scott County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond.
