SIKESTON, Mo. == A man who allegedly threated a convenience store clerk with a knife and said he needed $100 for his family was arrested, police said Tuesday.
David Allen Carroll, 37, was charged with first-degree robbery in connection with an armed robbery that occured Friday evening at U Pump It at 109 East St.
A man described as small and slim wearing a grey wool coat and dark jeans entered the store just after 6:30 p.m., said detective Keith Lawson in a court document. The man made no attempt to hide his face.
Holding a knife at waist level in his right hand, the man held up a note with his left and told the cashier he wanted money.
The cashier told police he recognized the man from two earlier occasions when he bought cigarettes.
After receiving five $20 bills from the cashier, the robber left the store and walked off.
On Monday, the cashier called police and reported seeing the robber walking past his apartment on Center Street. The cashier began to follow the man on foot, and reported his location to police until they were able to make an arrest.
Carroll was arrested without resistance, police said.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Scott County jail.
