SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce members had the chance to look over the four proposals for ward boundaries at their monthly luncheon on Thursday.

Doug Friend, Sikeston city administrator, presented the versions, one of which will be selected Monday as Sikeston changes to ward representation.

Seeking public input, Friend said the council's goal in the proposals was to provide equal representation in the wards, to follow significant boundaries, where possible, to make it easy for residents to know ward lines and to maintain areas of "common interest" in the wards.

While the proposals have been available for public view for several weeks, Friend said the council had received only 25 comments so far.

Friend encouraged those attending the lunch to let the council know what they thought about the proposals.

The Sikeston City Council is expected to make a decision at its 5 p.m. meeting Monday at City Hall.
