BENTON, Mo. -- A man is in custody following a burglary that occurred Saturday night in Sikeston, Missouri.
Jimmy Garrett, 26, of 213 Ruth St. in Sikeston, has been charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools, according to a Sunday news release.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter stated that deputy John C. Caudle responded to a report of suspicious activity near a business north of Sikeston about 9:48 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release.
Caudle arrived at the business to find the drive-through window of the establishment had been broken.
About 1 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Barry Morgan stopped two men who were walking south on U.S. 61 near Fairfield Street in Sikeston. The report stated that one of the men had broken glass on his clothing. The men admitted they had walked from a county road about 1 mile from the crime scene.
After further investigation both subjects were confirmed to have been at the scene of the crime.
Garrett remains in custody in the Scott County Jail, with bond having been set by the court at $25,000 cash or surety.
