SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston faithful stormed the practice field prior to the Bulldogs' quarterfinal home game against Ladue Horton-Watkins last season with tents, barbecue grills and a purpose.

"We think that when the opposing team comes in and see all of our fans, there's definitely an intimidation factor there," Sikeston Booster Club president Kevin Collins said.

Saturday, when the Warrenton Warriors come to town, will be the last chance Bulldog football fans will have to tailgate at their home field. Collins is expecting a big crowd. Bigger than last year's estimated 3,000.

"We're excited and we're hoping to build on the success of last year," said Collins. "A lot of people came but, we're expecting a bigger crowd this time."

Sikeston's Tailgate Party will begin at 7 a.m. Booster Club members will be there at 6:30 a.m., however, to guide those with tents to show them where to set up.

Sikeston will allow grills, gas and charcoal, as well as lawn games on the practice field on the west side of Sikeston Public School Stadium. Free hamburgers and hot dogs for the first 1,500 people will start at 10 a.m. provided by the Booster Club.

New T-shirts for the 'Blackout Game' will also be available for sale at the Sikeston High School office on Friday. The long sleeve, final four shirts will also be on sale Saturday morning during the tailgate.

The Sikeston High School band will perform at noon while the junior varsity cheerleaders will provide face painting.

The Booster Club asks that you bring your own tent, your own cookers and lawn games and that alcoholic beverages not be present.
