Starting this week, the Scott County Signal will become a Sunday newspaper.
The newspaper will also take on a new look, said Shari Fioranelli, associate publisher. It will become a broad sheet publication, the size of most newspapers.
"We're pleased to be able to offer these changes to our readers and advertisers in northern Scott County," said Fioranelli. "Maybe the biggest innovation is that the Signal will be delivered by motor carriers throughout the area, allowing us to provide the newspaper to more than 7,000 homes with the new Sunday publication."
Subscriptions to the Signal will still be delivered by mail to those areas not covered by the new distribution, Fioranelli said. In addition, those businesses or institutions in the new delivery area that want the Signal by mail will find that the subscription prices are still the same.
"We will be delivering the Signal free to almost every home in northern Scott County, the Delta and Advance areas," said Fioranelli. "We'll be working with area residents to insure that they receive their issues of the Signal every Sunday. Of course, we'll continue to mail the paper to our subscribers outside the area so they can keep up with the news here."
With the change in distribution the Signal will next be districted on Sunday, April 10.
Fioranelli said the deadline for advertising and news copy will be Wednesdays at 5 p.m.. Paging will take place on Thursday, with the final news product going to press on Friday.
"We're excited by all these progressive changes," said Fioranelli. "We hope to provide area readers with a community-minded newspaper that is delivered every Sunday morning to their door. With our new format, the Signal will now be able to provide our readers with an expanded view of area events."
