He is working in the trade full time. Scheeter previously worked in the construction and lumber industry. He is a 1989 graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

"The demand for taxidermy is growing in this area," he said. "More people are aware of the new quality and ability to make the animals appear life-like. New tanning methods and forms are behind this."

The process takes between one to three months for mammals and less for fish. The demand changes with the season, with deer, turkey and waterfowl being most popular in autumn and winter; turkey and fish in spring and fish through the summer months.

Scheeter is working out of his home at Route 2, Box 407, Cape Girardeau and can be reached at 334-1548. He will build a 36 x 36 workshop this winter for the business.
