The Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to a report of gunshots being fired late Wednesday afternoon near the corner of Good Hope Boulevard and Hanover Street. Eyewitness accounts say between two to three shots were fired. Police said a 28-year-old victim was taken by private vehicle, a late-model silver Chevrolet Impala, to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, but police said he is a male, not from Cape Girardeau. No suspects have been identified yet, police said. A second gunshot victim has been reported by local authorities. The 22-year-old may have been injured in the same shooting which injured a 28-year-old man in the 300 block of South Hanover Street. Police are investigating the connection between the two victims.

Local authorities have cordoned off a house on South Hanover Street as the possible scene of the crime and are currently searching the scene for evidence.

No suspects have been identified yet, police said.
