CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Charleston police are investigating a shooting that injured two people, including a child, on Thursday.

The shooting took place near Ironbanks and Swank streets in Charleston about 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to a news release from Charleston police, an argument over the use of fireworks erupted, and one of the parties involved began shooting.

Injured in the shooting were a 39-year-old Charleston man and his 10-year-old son. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The father's injuries are serious and the child is in stable condition, Charleston police said.

Police identified the suspect as Mark S. Mowery, who was described as a black male, 6-foot-1 and 150 pounds. He was last seen driving a green and tan 1997 Chevy S10 pickup truck with a Missouri license plate number of 2CA303.

Mowery is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to call the Charleston Department of Public Safety at 573-683-3737 or their nearest police agency.
