CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Two Charleston men were hospitalized after a shooting Monday evening.
At 7:15 p.m. Monday, officers from the Charleston Department of Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired near the area of Vine and Elm (Sy Williams) streets. There, officers found a man with a gunshot wound, according to DPS director Robert Hearnes.
The victim was later airlifted to an area medical facility for treatment.
"While on scene, officers learned there was a second gunshot victim in the 900 block of Grand Avenue. This victim was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital before an officer could respond," Hearnes said in a news release.
The shooting victims were identified as Daymon Caldwell, 24, and Anthony Horton, 23.
