Illinois State Police investigated a shooting Monday at a home in East Cape Girardeau, Ill., in which at least one man died.
Glen L. Lang Jr., 38, of East Cape Girardeau was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Francis Medical Center of a gunshot wound, said Cape Girardeau County Coroner Mike Hurst. An autopsy will be performed today.
Investigator Steve Shields said police responded to a report of a fight between two people at 40 Eastwood Drive.
Two were injured, but Shields declined to say whether one or both people were shot and would not comment on their condition. Lang was reportedly shot in the chest at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Shields said no arrests had been made and that both people had been taken to hospitals in Cape Girardeau.
A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said a woman shot a man in self-defense inside the home, which is across the street from a fire station for the McClure-East Cape Fire Protection District.
Police canvassed the neighborhood talking to residents near the property that is now circled with crime scene tape.
