While engaged in a road pursuit, a Bollinger County Sheriff's Department deputy crashed his patrol car into a suspect's vehicle Tuesday night.
The chase began in Marble Hill, Mo., where Robert J. Owens, 40, of Bonne Terre, Mo., reportedly ran a stop sign. Deputies closed in on him on Highway 34, about eight miles west of Marble Hill, where the crash occurred.
Owens was eastbound in a 1987 Toyota that was struck by a patrol car driven by Kevin Davis. Owens lost control of his car, but it came to rest upright on the north side of the roadway. He received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
The sheriff's office declined to comment Tuesday night about the pursuit and the wreck, which is under investigation by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
