Sheriff Rick Walter said that deputies received a call around 8:35 p.m. of an armed robbery at the Amerimart convenience store in Benton. A witness told Walter that the suspect walked into the store and fired one shot in the ceiling before lowering the gun at the clerk. After demanding money, the suspect fled on foot with $1500.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Investigators are reviewing the store's surveillance tapes. The suspect is described as a male, 5-feet-8-inches tall, wearing gloves, a monster mask and long sleeves, Walter said.
