Cape Girardeau County Sheriff John Jordan and Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle endorsed Sen. Christopher "Kit" Bond for re-election at a press conference Friday.
Also on hand for the announcement on the steps of the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau were two other Republican supporters, Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf and Stephen Gray, who will take office as Bollinger County's new prosecutor in January.
All four praised Bond's support for law enforcement.
Swingle said Bond has fought for funding for the SEMO Crime Lab and efforts to speed up the appeals process in death penalty cases.
He helped secure millions of dollars for law enforcement to bust and clean up meth labs.
He backed legislation to expel drug users and pushers from public housing.
"Sen. Bond has put his experience to work to get things done for law enforcement in Missouri," Jordan said.
"Sen. Bond has been a champion for those of us in law enforcement, and we want to do all we can to help him win re-election to the U.S. Senate," Jordan said.
Jordan and Swingle said Bond also has the support of the sheriffs in Carter, Shannon, Dunklin and Butler counties, the prosecuting attorneys in Perry, Madison and Butler counties, as well as Marble Hill Police Chief Gary Shrum and former Cape Girardeau police chief Howard "Butch" Boyd.
