Sheriff decides to spend a week in his own jail

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) -- The Will County sheriff is going to spend a week in his own jail.

Mark Curran isn't saying why he wants to be locked up -- only that it was his decision to do so and not anybody else's.

In a news release, the sheriff's office says Curran would talk Wednesday about why he decided to spend a week in the slammer.

And department spokesman Sergeant Christopher Thompson says he's been ordered not to give so much of a hint as to why the sheriff decided to impose what the press release describes as a "one-week self-imposed sentence."

Curran plans a Wednesday morning news conference then will immediately go through the booking process.
