Sheltered Workshop to receive $43,305.25

KENNETT, Mo. -- Willard Adams, district planner for the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission, and Jeanne Herbst, executive board member of the Bootheel Solid Waste District, announced that the Cotton Boll Sheltered Workshop at Kennett has been selected to receive grant funding from the Bootheel Solid Waste Management District for $43,305.25. Funding is provided by the Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Management Program for the workshop to enhance its recycling program. According to Nancy Nichols, director of the workshop, the last grant the workshop received was used to purchase a bailer, a shredder and a box truck. Nichols said the new grant will allow for the purchase of another bailer, box truck and computer. The Cotton Boll Sheltered Workshop accepts various assortments of plastic products ranging from cotton module tarps to milk jugs. The workshop also recycles paper and cardboard. Anyone who would like to contribute to the workshop's effort can do so by dropping off their items for recycling at the Cotton Boll Sheltered Workshop, on the South Bypass, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call (573) 888-2666 to make arrangements.
