JACKSON -- The Shawnee District Cub Scouts held day camp July 12-14 at the Jackson City Park.
About 190 boys ages 6 through 12 attended each day. The boys came from Perryville, Jackson, Cape, Scott City, Patton, Pocahontas, Millersville, Gordonville and Marble Hill.
Activities the boys participated in were archery, BB guns and flag etiquette. Navy officers from Cape Girardeau helped with the etiquette and the historic flags were loaned by the Jackson VFW.
The Department of Conservation provided information on forestry and nature. The boys also learned campfire building, campsite pitching, knife safety, map reading and compass reading, all which were assisted by the Boy Scouts. They also had crafts and water fun at camp.
