Scott County sheriff’s deputies will be conducting sex-offender compliance checks during Halloween, according to a news release.
Missouri law prohibits convicted sex offenders from having Halloween-related contact with children and requires offenders to be inside their homes between 5 and 10:30 p.m. unless they are required to be elsewhere for just cause, such as employment or medical emergencies, according to the release.
Offenders also should post a sign at their residences stating, “No candy or treats at this residence,” according to the release.
Offenders in violation of these rules are guilty of a class A misdemeanor, according to the release.
