BENTON -- Voters in Sikeston approved both a 911 emergency telephone system upgrade and a water and sewer bond in Tuesday's election.

In Scott County municipal elections:

-- In Scott City, Rodney Holloway won a seat on the Scott City Council and council incumbent Cindy Urhahn retained her seat as they both ran unopposed. Teresa Crump defeated Donna Sheren 71 votes to 32 to retain her seat on the council and Richard Freed and Billy Barnett claimed seats as they were unopposed.

-- Chris Carlisle beat Dixie Wheeler, 115 to 62, to win a Miner alderman's seat. Tom Mitchell defeated Steve Hampton, 161 to 100, for Miner police chief. Renee Utterback took her position as collector unopposed, Kelles Wade claimed an alderman's seat unopposed and Tom Brock beat Ray Sisco 43 to 39 for a Ward 2 alderman's seat.

-- Bill LeGrand beat John Jansen, 58 to 52, for the Kelso trustee position.

-- For Scott County Ambulance Directors, W.F. Sikes beat Joe Burton, 341 to 274, and David Morris beat Pamela Manwaring, 320 to 136.

-- For Vanduser Board of Trustees, Denise Arthur, Harold Graviette and Marty Godwin were elected.

-- For Morley aldermen, Rick Isaacs won unopposed and Andrew Matz beat David Woods, 47 to 6.

-- For Commerce board of trustees, Jerry Wright Jr. and Laura Vetters were elected to the two open seats with 27 and 21 votes, beating out Dixie Johnson, 13, and Mark Hanners, 14.

-- Sikeston Councilman Alan Keenan retained his seat unopposed.

-- For Benton mayor, Joe Stuckey beat William Morgan, 113 to 40. Beverly Riley claimed her city collector's position unopposed. Howard Bollinger and David Max took alderman seats unopposed.

-- Oran aldermen Eddie Evans, Gill Roslen and Richard Randolph took their seats unopposed.

-- Ron Davis beat Gary Gilmore, 50 to 42, for a Chaffee City Council seat. Mike Hinkebein, Robert Harris, Tom Cunningham and John Hampton took their council seats unopposed.
