Multiple lines were down, and poles were broken in the Cape Girardeau area because of high winds. Muniz said she did not have an estimated restoration time mid-afternoon Wednesday because Ameren still was sending out crews.

At mid-afternoon, Ameren reported 2,387 outages in Cape Girardeau County, with areas northeast of Cape Girardeau to Egypt Mills and west of Cape Girardeau to Gordonville being the most affected. Ameren reported 209 outages in Scott County with Scott City, Delta and Kelso being affected.

By 10 p.m., the number of outages in Cape Girardeau County totaled 202. In Scott County, it was 4.
