SEVERAL FROM CHAFFEE HURT IN ACCIDENTS

A collision Saturday afternoon in Oran, Mo., resulted in serious and moderate injuries to Chaffee, Mo., residents, while a separate accident Friday evening near Chaffee hospitalized another Chaffee woman with moderate injuries.

Ernie Payne, 36, of Chaffee sustained serious injuries in the accident at 4:15 p.m. on Highway 77 at Oran. He was taken by helicopter to Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Sustaining moderate injuries in the same vehicle were Joe Moore, 40, Pam Moore, 52, Sue Payne, 47, Cady Moore, 12, and Jeramy Moore, 14, all of Chaffee. All were taken by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, Lisa Young, 16, of Oran also had moderate injuries and was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Young's vehicle pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Joe Moore.

In the other accident, Judy Oliphant, 38, of Chaffee was taken to St. Francis Medical Center with moderate injuries. The accident occurred on County Road 252, three miles west of Chaffee, at 9:20 p.m. Friday.

Driver Randy Oliphant, 41, of Chaffee and passenger Tina Wheatley, 7, of Chaffee sustained minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol said Randy Oliphant failed to negotiate a corner, and the vehicle ran of the roadway and struck a post.
