Six businesses along Broadway in Cape Girardeau were burglarized late Wednesday or early Thursday, but police aren't saying whether the crimes are connected.
Between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, police received reports of burglaries in and near the 1800 block of Broadway, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Doors and windows were found damaged and items were stolen at several locations, including Sauer Dentistry at 1834 Broadway, the law office of Albert M. Spradling III at 1838 Broadway, Ruopp Dentistry at 721 N. Sunset Ave. and Estate Planning and Elder Law at 720 Forest Ave.
Community Day School, at 1912 Broadway, also reported a burglary and the theft of laptop computers, cameras and an unspecified amount of cash and checks Thursday.
Its sister school, Christian School for the Young Years, 735 N. Clark St., was burglarized June 1.
Another day care, Just Kids Learning Development Center, in another part of town, was burglarized May 24.
Hickey said not all the damage on the businesses was the same, but police have seen similarities among the burglaries.
"There's really no way to know at this point whether they were related," Hickey said. "We are investigating all of them on their own merit, but there is always the chance they are, and we will look at it that way, too."
