CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- Several arrests were made in Caruthersville in connection with a string of property damage, estimated to cause more than $10,000 in damages.
On Oct. 28 and Nov. 6, a total of 20 vehicle windows and two house windows were shot out with a BB gun, according to a news release issued by the Caruthersville Police Department. The suspects also shot a female with the BB gun while she was walking Nov. 6, although the female was not injured. A radio was also stolen from a vehicle on that date.
Over the course of the investigation, two adults and five juveniles were arrested in the past week. A 20-year-old man was arrested for five counts each of second-degree property damage and unlawful use of a weapon; a 17-year-old male was arrested on 17 counts each of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon; a 16-year-old male was charged with 22 counts each of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon and one count of stealing; a 15-year-old male was charged with 17 counts of property damage, 18 counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of second-degree assault; another 15-year-old male was charged with 17 counts each of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon; a 14-year-old male was arrested for 17 counts each of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon; and a 15-year-old male charged with 22 counts each of property damage and unlawful use of a weapon and one count of stealing.
According to the news release, all the juveniles will be charged through Pemiscot Juvenile Court, while the adults are being charged through the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
Caruthersville police officers are still receiving estimates from the victims. If the suspects are found guilty, they will have to pay restitution for the damage, the news release said.
