About 100 triathletes formed a human chain and jumped into the water to search for Hunt, said Mark Livesay, racing director for Ultramax Events. People performed CPR on Hunt before getting him to shore, where an ambulance and doctors were waiting.

Hunt was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Concord Baptist Church in Sappington.
