May 11 ... such a special day for us Oran High School seniors. That's the final day of our high school career and the beginning of a long-lasting journey through life and the true wonders of the universe. I already don't know what I'm saying.

This is my favorite time of the school year. Everything is winding down and letting the grades slip isn't that big of a deal. I mean I'm no valedictorian, so what's the point? No pride in myself, you say? Not challenged enough? No, trust me I am driven enough mentally; I just don't like to go along for the ride all the time. Especially now that I'm a senior and all (leaning back in chair and putting feet on desk).

I'm one of those kids that do great at things they want to do great in. However, finding the nth term for T11 and knowing the average life expectancy of a dust mite are things that never intrigued me. And although I took Spanish for an entire year I can still only count to 10 ... in English. I remember recieving my tests in that course and looking at my grade.

"A 73 ... YES I PASSED! What'd you make Michael?" I'd say dancing around the tables.

"A 97 ... ," he'd say sadly.

"Oh ... "

Right now I'm making decent enough grades to get me through the rest of the year and hopefully summer will come before I'm given a load of assignments that I won't do anyway.

May 11. I just have to keep reminding myself to avoid insanity. I might go out of control and end up doing my trigonometry.

The sad thing is I made straight A's all the way through elementary school. Then one day, I saw a B on that report card and everything slowly went downhill from there.

"Honey, why do you have a C in science?" my mom asked recently.

"Oh, well ... (begins mumbling)," I said, running downstairs.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, how can I possibly make it through college with this kind of attitude? Well, let me tell you, I wonder about that every day of my life. Luckily, I can focus when I need to, but right now I have the "summer's-almost-here-leave-me-be" attitude. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of senior trip and the many adventures that await me.

Adventures meaning floating the Current River and plunging a toilet.

Well, I'll let everyone get back to their work. I'm sure you've got plenty of things to do. And, well ... if you're a senior, those things don't matter. Don't bother listening to the teachers or doing your homework. School is for sissies. (Rides away on tricycle and sells liver on black market)
