JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Owners of mobile home parks would have to give residents at least four months' notice before forcing them off the property in most cases, under a bill passed by the Senate and sent back to the House on Wednesday. Mobile home residents have complained for years of being forced to move with little to no notice. The legislation requires landlords to give mobile home owners 120 days notice in writing to vacate if the property use changes. The bill also prohibits landlords from increasing rent during the 60 days before providing the vacating notice, or after giving the notice -- unless it's to cover higher property taxes.
