Dena Pehlman, shelter director, wished to thank the council on behalf of the Cape Girardeau Safe House. "The shelter exists solely on donations and we're so appreciative of all the volunteer efforts," said Pehlman.

In addition to women and children who come to the shelter, many lives are touched through individual counseling and other outreach programs.
