The chairman of Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Agriculture has been named president of the Missouri Academy of Science.
Dr. Michael Aide was previously nominated by the academy's executive committee as vice president and then president-elect, according to a university news release.
The academy encourages local scientific organizations, promotes relationships between Missouri scientists and among all who have interest in science and the publication of original work. The academy also provides opportunities for discussion of legislation related to science.
Aide will be responsible for promoting and directing an annual meeting; sponsoring a peer reviewed journal and managing budget, sponsorships and memberships for the academy.
