Southeast Missouri State University students will have the opportunity to live on a residence hall floor devoted to leadership in diversity when the 1998-1999 academic year begins in August.
The program will be offered on the fourth floor of Towers North. It will offer students an opportunity to participate, learn and experience a wide range of activities and programs in the rich diversity of cultural and ethnic traditions, said Carol Coventry, Southeast's residence life director.
"We are preparing students for a global society," she said. "Part of that is learning to work and live with people of other cultures. The students who opt to participate in this program will likely be better prepared to live in a culturally diverse world."
Beginning with the fall 1998 semester, 25 students will have the opportunity live on the leadership-in-diversity floor. Campus leaders and peer trainers in diversity will live on the floor, along with new students who choose to participate in this program. At least 10 of those students will be in Southeast's Minority Mentor Program.
