Southeast Missouri State University has set another enrollment record, with total undergraduate and graduate student headcount at 11,112 for the fall 2010 semester, according to a university news

release.

Wednesday's official four-week census report shows total enrollment up 2.3 percent from fall 2009. Fall semester classes at Southeast began Aug. 23.

Total undergraduate student enrollment is 10,035, up 4.7 percent from this time last year, the university said. A preliminary report based on opening day of classes had indicated 10,460 undergraduate students enrolled.

University officials say Southeast's total enrollment has grown by 3,187 since 1994, when total fall semester enrollment was 7,925.

Some key contributors in the enrollment increase include:

  • A record-breaking beginning freshmen class of 1,928, up 6.8 percent from fall 2009,
  • Increases in black enrollment, with a total of 853, up from 803 last year,
  • Total international enrollment this fall has grown to 512, up from 336 at this time last year.
