He credited better musical acts -- the Marshall Tucker Band, Phil Vassar and three-act Operation Redneck -- with the increased attendance. It was more than 4,000 over last year.

The 148th annual fair ran Sept. 6 through 13 and featured the musical acts plus food, rides, business booths, livestock, a demolition derby and more.
