Connie L. Hebert, interim director of the Southeast Missouri State University Autism Center for Diagnosis and Treatment, was appointed to the Missouri Commission on Autism Spectrum Disorders by Gov. Jay Nixon. Hebert, 42, of Cape Girardeau also works as an independent educational consultant to school districts to provide behavioral consultation. The commission is a state advisory board that was formed to make recommendations for developing a comprehensive statewide plan for an integrated system of training, treatment and services for individuals of all ages with autism spectrum disorder. Hebert was appointed for a term ending Sept. 3, 2010.
